Attractions in Kavarna

Kavarna and the area around the city is a desirable destination for tourists not only in the summer months. Until recently, the city attracted tourists mainly because of the rock concerts in the city, but now there is something for everyone - cultural and historical heritage of the city, dating back to the ancient Greeks; the nearby Kaliakra Archaeological Reserve; golf lovers have several large golf complexes nearby; located 6 km. from the town of Dulboka Mussel Farm is famous throughout Bulgaria. The Alley of Rock

There are currently 2 monuments on the Alley of Rock - of the late rock musicians Ronnie James Dio and Georgi Minchev. There is an idea to have a third sculpture - by Petar Gyuzelev from "The Crickets".

The ethnographic complex - Kavarna

The ethnographic complex in the town of Kavarna was opened to visitors in 1984. It was built on the site of the first Bulgarian school, founded in 1869. It consists of a house-museum, a restored dressing room, a lace workshop and a yard. The interior acquaints the visitor with the most typical of urban life from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The exposition reflects the characteristic features of the main ethnographic groups of the population in this region - Dobrudzha, Gagauz, Kotlen.

Chirakman cape

The majestic Cape Chirakman, towering over the Kavarna coast, has been inhabited since the 1st millennium BC. In the first century BC. there was a catastrophic earthquake in which part of the cape disappeared into the sea. After that, the city of Bison gradually began to become an important economic center. A fortress wall was built in the 4th century. The medieval town arose on the remains of a large early Byzantine fortress after the successful uprising of the Assenevtsi and became a major craft center. The final conquest of the Dobrudzha lands by the Turks (end of the 14th century) was connected with the complete destruction of Chirakman and its inhabitants were relocated to the territory of today's town.
